Tim Walz Audio Biography

Tim Walz is an American politician serving as the 41st governor of Minnesota since January 2019, and the 2024 Vice Presidential pick by Kamala Harris. Born on April 6, 1964, in West Point, Nebraska, Walz has a diverse background in education, military service, and public service. He graduated from Chadron State College in Nebraska and later earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato.<br />Before entering politics, Walz was a high school teacher and coach, which earned him the recognition as Minnesota Teacher of the Year. He also served in the Army National Guard for 24 years, retiring with the rank of Command Sergeant Major.<br />Walz began his political career in 2006 when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Minnesota's 1st congressional district. During his tenure in Congress, he focused on veterans' affairs, agriculture, and education. As governor, Walz has prioritized healthcare, education, and infrastructure, and has been recognized for his leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic.<br />Known for his bipartisan approach, Walz continues to advocate for policies that aim to improve the lives of Minnesotans, emphasizing collaboration and pragmatic solutions.
