Who is the host?
Eli Lake is an American journalist and podcaster known for his vast works of covering national security and foreign affairs. Born in 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he studied at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and graduated in 1994.
During the following years, he has worked with a few big news organizations. He had previously worked as a national security reporter for The New York Sun and as a State Department correspondent for United Press International.
From 2008 until 2013, Lake served as the contributing editor at The New Republic. Later, he joined The Daily Beast and Newsweek as Senior National Security Correspondent. In October 2014, Lake joined Bloomberg View as a columnist along with his colleague Josh Rogin.
He has provided commentary on many media outlets, including CNN, Fox News, C-SPAN, and the Charlie Rose show. Lake currently contributes to The Free Press, where he hosts the podcast "Breaking History," which puts today's headlines into historical context.
His reporting has taken him to the conflict regions of Sudan, Iraq, and Gaza; his firsthand knowledge of international affairs is immense. He has received accolades for in-depth coverage and commentary on rather intricate geopolitical stories.
In April 2022, Lake began hosting another podcast, "The Re-Education with Eli Lake," wherein he tries to demolish conventional wisdom from the mainstream media, ranging from comedy to disinformation.
Lake has made a career out of incisive analysis and storytelling that connects the present with some of history's pivotal moments.
